Working Out!
I have really learned a lot from my "Living in a Digital World" class. I'm big on working out, and documenting my performance. Whether it's running, lifting, or a circuit, I always want to know how I have done in the past, so I can try and beat it. I made an Excel Spreadsheet from Google drive, without the help of this class, I would have never been able to make it. I love my Spreadsheet! I can edit it wherever, read it on my phone wherever and share it with a few workout friends. Please take a look and comment for suggestions or feedback. Jake's Training

Google Calenders
Calenders are great! But when you have one calender that hangs on your fridge, it's difficult to schedule your next dentist appointment when your away from home, or to plan a date night when you and your spouse are both at work. With Google Calenders, you can add people to the calender and save it in any smart phone! So when my wife needs to know when I work so she can plan her schedule, she can do it without even calling me. My schedule is all out in front her! Control if people can edit events, add events, or only view events!
QR Codes
QR Codes are one of the coolest, and easiest tech tools around. Anyone can create one! And anyone can look one up (with the use of a smart phone)! To create a QR Code, go here, paste the website you would like as a final destination, click create, click details, and it is there! You can save the QR Code as an image and place it on your business ad, you could place it on a flyer being sent out to family for the location of a reunion, or you could have your students use the code to look up specific websites.
Here is a code to hopefully bring you a smile!

Search Engines
I have always used Google as my go-to search engine. Google has a lot of really cool features. This week I experimented with Bing and Wolframalpha. From here on out in my life, I really think I'll be utilizing all three search engines.
When looking at Bing, the homepage is always a picture that someone has submitted. I thought that was pretty cool, it says a lot about Bing as a company. Anytime a business can turn around and give a shout out to it's clients is pretty rare and rewarding (for both parties).
Doing a search with Bing, they were able to pull up some really cool facts right away, not that Google wouldn't be able to, but with Google I'd have to dig around. I enjoy cruising around the web finding videos about cool things people have done with their lives and also funny videos. Bing has some really cool search features while searching for videos.
Wolframalpha pulls way cool statistics really fast. It's super easy to do comparisons. I love comparing things online. Using this website I was able to look at the difference in income, cost of living, taxes, weather, crime, and prices for food for my Houston vs SLC and for NYC vs SLC. I'm pretty nervous at times about password security. With this website I'm able to generate any length of password, any characters or numbers (I can choose to allow them or not) and this site can tell me how long it will take (on average) to crack that password. Let's just say I decided to change a few passwords.
I'm glad I took the time to investigate and look at other sites on the internet. I'm excited to see what else I can pull up using these websites!

Purpose
This blog is for posting work I have completed, in helping me earn my degree. I love CokeZero, watching movies, and picking up heavy things then setting them down.
